Associated Artists of Winston-Salem Offers Two Shows

Associated Artists Of Winston-Salem (AAWS) is pleased to announce the exhibit, A Twist on Tradition, the 7th Annual Exhibiting Member Invitational Show, which will be on display July 30 through Sept. 25 in the Arts Council Boardroom Gallery, located at 305 West 4th Street in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. The show includes works by Lynne Bjarnesen, Melrose Tapscott Buchanan, Maggie Clark, John Sagartz, Doris Fulton and Renee Montague.

Also on view in the Associated Artists Gallery in the Sawtooth Building, located at 226 North Marshall Street in downtown W-S, is the exhibit Summer Select, fine artworks in various media by Associate Members to be on display from Aug. 5 through Sept. 11. The show selector, Mitzi Shewmake, has choosen prize winners and selected at least one artwork from each entering artist, all of whom are Associate Members of AAWS.

Mitzi Shewmake is a sculptor and former Director of the Diggs Gallery.

Associated Artists of Winston-Salem is a non-profit organization of over 450 members created over 40 years ago by a group of local artists who wanted to exhibit their work in the community. Supported by membership dues and individual donations, AAWS also receives operating assistance from the Arts Council of Winston-Salem / Forsyth County. Through its programs and exhibitions AAWS encourages the creative talent of the artists, from novice to professional.
