Works by Gay Torrey Featured at Beaufort County Library

Gay Torrey will be the next featured artist at the Beaufort Art Association's (BAA) Art Among The Books Gallery on the second floor at the Beaufort County Library, Beaufort, SC, through Aug. 9. Other works by BAA members will also on view.

Torrey, who is the newly elected president of BAA, says she has had the privilege of studying and painting with many fine artists in past years as the wife of a career Marine. In spite of many moves she continued to pursue her artistic goals exhibiting in Tennessee, Maryland, New York, North and South Carolina.

"I have done work in all media and find each challenging and rewarding. My favorite subjects are flowers, people and interesting homes. I hope gallery visitors will enjoy my work," says Torrey. Her painting Easter Dress was a Purchase Selection at BAA's 38th Spring Exhibit in March. A portion of proceeds from the sale of the paintings at the Library gallery benefits BAA's promotion of the visual arts in the Beaufort area.

Torrey remembers with fondness BAA's exhibits and shows in the '70s which were outdoor wall and fence shows and is happy to be back enjoying the Association and Beaufort once again.

Cabell Heyward will be the next featured artist with an exhibit beginning Aug. 12.
