Elon College Exhibits Work by Three Greensboro, NC Painters

Currently exhibiting at Elon College's Faith Rockefeller Model Center in Elon, NC, are the paintings of Greensboro artists Todd Drake, Bruce Shores, and Sara Butt. This show is part of the 1999 James H. McEwen Jr., Visual Arts Series and will continue through Jan. 3, 2000. Professor Anne Simpkins, a painting instructor in Elon College's art department has curated this invitational show for lovers of paint.

Todd Drake

Though three distinctly different painters, the work of each artist compliments the other and together build a greater definition of the possibilities of painting. Todd Drake's energetic paintings are rich in associative imagery that can be interpreted in many ways. Bruce Shore's intimate landscapes are painted directly from observation and are, in the words of the artist, a celebration of the visual experience. Sarah Butt's deep landscape paintings have richly textured surfaces which make the paintings work both within an abstract and realistic space.
