Coming Home on Exhibit at Singleton Center in Flat Rock

Muses --The Main Gallery at the Singleton Centre in Flat Rock, NC, will open the exhibit, Coming Home, on Dec. 3, in conjunction with the Flat Rock Village Stroll. The exhibit will continue through Dec. 31, 1999. Two artists from Colorado, Kathy Park and Henry Woolbert, will have work featured in this exhibit.

The figurative artwork of Kathy Park celebrates the experience of living in a body. Whether carved stone and wood, rhythmically incised linocuts, richly colored paintings, or appliqued quilts, Park's work is about embodiment. Her belief is that this embodiment is the source of understanding of what it means to be alive and conscious on the Earth, living with purpose, grace, and respect for the sacredness of all life. Her art career spans thirty years and is in private collections nationwide.

Henry Woolbert uses images inspired by nature and his dreams to create paintings, drawings, and prints. His subject matter ranges from desert landscapes to oriental sumi-e florals to dancing figures, to dreamscapes. In addition to creating his own work, Woolbert has been an inspiring art teacher for twenty-five years. He takes the approach that making art has much to do with enhancing our powers of observation of both the inner and the outer worlds.

Also on exhibit at the Centre are works by Marie Cheek (acrylic & pencil); Joan Engle (oil & pastel); Michael Lightner (industrial salvage); John Ransmeier (Raku & wood-fired ceramics); and Alisa Ritchie (exotic jewelry & masks).
