Food For Thought at Hidell Brooks Gallery

Hidell Brooks Gallery, located in the South End district of Charlotte, NC, is presenting an invitational group exhibition entitled Food For Thought. The show will continue through Sept. 4.

Mary Ann Currier

From Cezanne to Claes Oldenburg, artists over the decades have been fascinated with food imagery, its beauty and importance. This exhibition explores the use of food imagery among some of today's top contemporary artists. Apples, doughnuts, olives, radishes and eggs transcend the ordinary and come to life before the viewer not just as nourishment for the body, but as objects to be contemplated. The exhibition brings together twenty artists from around the country who are working in a wide range of styles and mediums including oils, pastels and watercolors.

Each of the following artists will be represented: Carol Anthony, Gordon Cook, Colleen Cox, Elizabeth Crawford, Mary Ann Currier, Corda Eby, Emily Eveleth, Patrick Farrell, Janet Fish, Julie Heffernan, Kathryn Jacobi, Kenneth Kewley, David Kroll, Abby Leigh, David Loeb, Janet Manafo, James Moore, Christopher Terry, John Wilde and Andrew Young.

Hidell Brooks Gallery specializes in contemporary art which includes paintings, prints and sculpture.
